Skyrocketing through the eerie beauty of the jungle

Anyone who was ever in the lucky position to witness the adventurous sound expeditions of Liverpool’s turntable artist Philip Jeck will have a good idea of where the trip with duo Maja Osojnik & Matija Schellander is going: into the seemingly limitless. Into a space, in any case, where the boundaries between improvisation and electronics, New Music and noise, free rock and visual art have been suspended. Only through this suspension - and not a moment earlier - something better arises. Something as good and audacious as RDEČA RAKETA. Equipped with their low pitch tools, the sub-bass recorder and e-bass, and together with up to four hands full of electronics, the radical duo maneuvers with bravura through a veritable, eerily beautiful jungle of wild sounds grown rampant, not to mention the undergrowth of gently sizzling to rudely fiery bits & bytes. “It’s like a jungle sometimes / and I wonder / how I keep from going under” - that’s how Grandmaster Flash once described this condition. Osojnik and Schellander go the extra mile and don’t lose control over the storm, even in the most turbulent situations. In the face of this acoustic adventure, we sit with ears wide open and can only marvel – at the agility of the two, and especially at the musicality that arises from it. Mit der Rakete durch die schaurige Schönheit des Dschungels

Wer sich jemals in der glücklichen Lage befand, den abenteuerlichen Sound-Expeditionen des Liverpooler Turntable-Künstlers Philip Jeck beizuwohnen, bekommt eine ungefähre Ahnung davon, wohin die Reise mit dem Duo Maja Osojnik & Matija Schellander geht: ins scheinbar Grenzenlose. In ein Gebiet jedenfalls, dessen Grenzen zwischen Improvisation und Elektronik, Neuer Musik und Noise, Free Rock und bildender Kunst ersatzlos aufgehoben wurden. Erst durch diese Aufhebung, keinen Augenblick früher, kommt etwas Besseres nach. Etwas so Gutes, Waghalsiges wie RDEČA RAKETA. Ausgestattet mit den tief disponierten Werkzeugen Paetzold Subbassblockflöte & E-Bass sowie mit bis zu vier Händen voller Elektronik, manövriert sich das radikale Zweiergespann mit Bravour durch einen wahren, schaurig-schönen Dschungel an wild wuchernden Klanggewächsen, ganz abgesehen vom Gestrüpp der sanft brutzelnden bis unsanft hitzigen Bits & Bytes. „It’s like a jungle sometimes / and I wonder / how I keep from going under“, benannte diesen Zustand einmal Grandmaster Flash. Osojnik & Schellander gehen noch einen Schritt weiter und verlieren selbst in den stürmischsten Situationen nicht die Kontrolle über den Sturm. Angesichts dieses Hörabenteuers sitzen wir mit bis zum Gehtnichtmehr offenen Ohren da und können nur staunen – über die Beweglichkeit der beiden und vor allem über die Musikalität, die daraus entsteht.
